  2. 小約翰史特勞斯生平 • 小約翰．史特勞斯（Johann Strauss Junior, 1825－1899）出生於奧國。 是著名音樂家老約翰．史特勞斯（Johann Strauss Senior, 1804－1849）的兒子。 他的兩位弟弟約瑟夫．史特勞斯（Josef Strauss, 1827－1870）和愛德華．史特勞斯（Eduard Strauss, 1835－1916）也是著名的音樂家。

  4. 生平 • 小時候跟隨小提琴手 弗蘭茲．阿蒙（Franz Amon）學習演奏技巧 • 1843年，父親離家。史特勞斯向安東．柯爾曼（Anton Kohlmann）與約瑟夫．德雷施勒（Joseph Drechsler）學習樂理與作曲。

  5. 生平 • 1844年，十九歲的小史特勞斯，在唐瑪雅聚樂部（Dommayer's Casino）舉行首次演奏，轟動全維也納。 • 第二天維也納的報紙登出如下的詞句：「再見！藍納。晚安！老史特勞斯。早安！小史特勞斯。」

  6. 生平 • 1849年，老約翰竟以四十五歲的壯年，因病去世。 • 接下父親的樂團指揮，並也率領樂團走遍歐洲、法、英、義、俄等地。 • 1862年， 三十七歲時，小史特勞斯與大自己十歲的峰亨莉葉塔．特雷芙茲結婚。

  8. 生平 • 創作《藍色多瑙河》（An der schönen blauen Donau, op. 314, 1867）就是這時期的代表作之一。

  9. 生平 • 1870年，小史特勞斯四十五歲，二月，最敬愛的母親過式。六月，二弟約瑟夫又宣告死亡。 • 奧芬巴哈（Jacques Offenbach, 1819-1880）鼓勵其創作轉向輕歌劇（operetta）。

  10. 生平 • 1872年，小史特勞斯四十七歲，美國在波士頓舉行世界和平音樂會。 • 1873年，小史特勞斯四十八歲，輕歌劇《蝙蝠》問世，奠定他在輕歌劇創作上的不朽地位。 • 1884年10月，小史特勞斯五十九歲，輕歌劇《吉普賽男爵》（Zigeunerbaron, 1884）問世。

  11. 生平 • 此年為慶祝他演出四十週年，維也納宣佈放假一星期，全市懸掛國旗，各種獎章、禮物及榮譽學位，紛紛從世界各角落蜂擁而至。成為全世界最受人愛戴景仰的名作曲家、指揮家，並被稱為“圓舞曲之王”。 • 1899年六月三日去世，享年七十四歲，榮葬於維也納中央公墓。
