Enrollment Timeline Classroom Presentations • Counselors explain & distribute enrollment information to all students • Students take forms home to complete Parent Information Meeting Enrollment Forms due Friday, January 15, 2010 • Applications for Yearbook due Jan 15 to Guidance Dept Online Enrollment • Counselors will help each student enter their enrollment selections utilizing the completed enrollment forms

  5. 8th grade requirements—all year • Math (class recommended by teacher) • Social Studies 8 • English 8 • Science 8

  6. 8th grade requirements--semester • Communication • Intro to Work and Family • Physical Education • Keyboarding/Document Formatting I (if not taken in 7th grade)

  7. Required classes if teacher recommended • Integrated Studies—must have an I.E.P. • Applied Reading • Learning Strategies • Math Lab • English as a Second Language

  9. What you need to know about electives Classes with a double ** means they meet all year and take up 2 elective choices. Examples are Band, Orchestra, Spanish I, Study Seminar, Yearbook, Chorus. Students must apply and be chosen to be part of the Yearbook class.

  10. What you need to know about electives, continued • Study seminar may be taken all year or for one semester—make sure you mark the right one. • Make sure you have the prerequisite for a class you want to sign up for. For example, you must have Photo Foundations before Photo Extended.

  11. Number of electives for 8th Graders • The number of electives may be different for each student based upon additional teacher recommended classes.

  12. How to Indicate your Choices • Number electives in priority order with #1 being your first choice. • Remember that year long electives take up 2 choices so mark them with 2 consecutive numbers. For example, if Band is your 2nd choice, it is also your 3rd choice. • Please select several choices in case you cannot get in your first selections. Number choices from 1 to 7 with number 1 being the class most wanted.

  13. Information Update This is the only enrollment form you and your student will complete. Please let the school know anytime contact information changes.

  14. Remember • The enrollment form is a contract with the school. • Teachers are hired and classes are formed by what students request on this enrollment form.
