  6. What is a science notebook???? • A science notebook is your own personalized DIARYof learning about science • A portfolio of your work in ONE convenient spot. This is great for studying for upcoming quizzes & test • A great ORGANIZATIONAL toolthat gives you permission to be PLAYFUL AND CREATIVE in your responses without "messing up" your notes. • Allows you to be like a REAL SCIENTIST

  8. The notebook is divided into TWO sections. Left Side-Right Side: Which side??? • The Right SIDE is “Learned” information given by Mrs. Strathman. Nothing else should be placed on the RIGHT SIDE!! • -This is the “input” side. • The Left side is “Reflection” and contains only student work. This is the side that you can use to show me your creativity. • -This is the “output” or product side.

  10. RIGHT side: MY SIDE • The RIGHT SIDE belongs to me and should only contain information given or “input” from Mrs. Strathman. • -Nothing else should be placed on this page! • The RIGHT SIDE contains the TESTABLE material. • “B” PAGES =1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B…YOU GET IT..

  11. RIGHT Side The RIGHT side of the notebook contains information given to you by Mrs. Strathman. This is the ESSENTIALinformation that will DEFINITELY be on a quiz or test. Nothing else should go on this side.

  22. Step 1 • With the permanent marker provided to you, write the following on the front of your notebook: First and Last Name Science Notebook Mrs. Strathman Room C41 Period____

  23. Step 2 Starting with the 2nd page, number the first 50 LEFT SIDE pages. The 1st page is THE COVER. Numbers should be small and at the top outside corner of every page. u 1A 2A Inside Cover

NOTEBOOK RULES • No RIPPED OUT pages or torn corners • No DOODLINGthat doesn’t relate to science • Notebook should only be used for SCIENCE CLASS ONLY,bring it with you EVERYDAY thatyou have science. • NUMBER each page. • All entries must go into the Table of Contents • BE COLORFUL & LOVE YOUR NOTEBOOK • –Color helps the brain organize and remember info. • –Neatness counts. This is a reflection of you.

  32. NOTEBOOK RULES • Your SNBwill count as one MAJOR grade at every notebook check. • YOU are responsible for making up any missed information. You can get the information from the Absent Wall, a classmate, Mrs. Strathman, or the class website. Please see me after school, or Lunch…if you have questions. DON’T GET BEHIND! • DO NOT COPY another’s left reflection page. • You should be creative on your own.
