  1. BALANCE USE OF FERTILISER & USE OF GIS TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, HARYANA

  2. BALANCE FERTILISER USE • Use of chemical fertiliser is highly imbalanced • Fertilizer use is more than 200 kg/ha • The N:P ratio in Haryana is 3.5:1 against 2:1 • Deficiency of micronutrient is spreading very fast • SOIL TESTING IS THE ONLY SCIENTIFIC METHOD • TO MAKE BALANCED FERTILISER RECOMMENDATIONS

  3. SOIL TESTING PROGRAMME • Soil Testing services are provided free of cost to the farmers of Haryana • ADO’s are given target for collection of soil samples before sowing season • The samples are sent to the concerned laboratories for analysis • Analysis report with fertiliser recommendation are sent to the extension workers for follow up action • Special soil testing campaigns are launched to collect representative samples • Distt wise Digital Fertility maps are prepared ,which are sent to DDAs • Water samples are also analysed in the laboratories for assessing its quality • 3.0 lakhs Soil Health Cards will be provided to the Farmers in the State annually

  4. SOIL AND WATER TESTING SERVICES Present Set up:- - 30 Soil & Water Testing Laboratories in the State - One Mobile Soil testing Laboratory. - 13 STLs are equipped for Micronutrient testing. Soil Parameters being Analysed :- - pH & EC to check the alkalinity & Salinity in soils for reclamation - Major nutrient , N: P : K - Secondary Nutrient Sulphur In all STLs - Micronutrients ( Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu ) in 13 STLs Capacity :- -- 10000 soil sample a year of each Laboratory - Total of 3.00 lacs soil samples by all the STLs - 1.00 soil samples for micronutrients( Zn. Fe and Mn)

  5. Monitoring of micronutrient deficiencies in the State • -Micronutrient deficiency is spreading very fast in the soils of Haryana • Creation of micronutrient testing facilities in all the STLs • To cover the maximum area for micronutrient analysis • Creation of data for deficient areas • To delineate the deficient areas in the Distt. Maps • To educate the farmers for the application of micronutrient fert. • Complete automation in the STLs • the functioning of all the STLs have been made computerized • One ICP ( auto analyser )has been installed in the central Lab. at Karnal • capable to analyse 300 samples a day for all the parameters in one go • Tradationaly 60-70 samples are being analysed by any of the STL

  6. ICP -SPECTROMETER

  7. INFORMATION DISTRIBUTION • CRETION OF LOCATION SPECIFICATION INFORMATION(GPS based) • Use of GIS technology • Web based application • internet mapping services (IMS) • On line Soil Health card on the deptt web page • (www.agriharyana.nic.in) • Distribution of information to the individuals
