(736,000 sq. mi.) • Population: 240.3 million. • Capital--Jakarta (est. 9.6 million) • The terrain is more than 17,500 islands; 6,000 are inhabited; 1,000 of which are permanently settled. • Nationality: Indonesian. • Main ethnic group is Javanese (40.6%) • Main religion is Islam (86.1%)
