  2. Thechurch belongs to the Lordjesuschrist. • He is her Builder, Purchaser, Cornerstone, Head and Savior. • Matthew 16:18; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 2:20; 5:23 • Total allegiance to Jesus!

  3. Thecollection of the church is no longer individuals’ funds. • The nature of a gift. • Churches of Christ took collections from Christians when assembled on Sundays. • 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5

  4. Thechurch of the lord supports the spread of the gospel. • Christ’s body of His blood-bought souls (Ephesians 5:25-27). • The pillar and ground of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15).

  5. Thechurch of the lord supports the spread of the gospel. • What happens when the church is failing to hold forth the truth? • The wisdom of God is not manifested (Ephesians 3:8-11). • The church is not being built up (Acts 20:32).

  6. Thechurch of the lord supports the spread of the gospel. • The church is called to proclaim the gospel. • Sound forth the word (1 Thessalonians 1:8). • Send out preachers (Romans 10:14-15; Philippians 4:14-16).

  7. Thechurch aided Christians in need. • Benevolence - part of the Lord’s church because of love for one another. • Acts 2:45; 4:34-35; 6:1-4

  8. Thechurch aided Christians in need. • New Testament pattern – saints in need. • Brethren in need (Acts 4:35). • Distinction to be made between family and church responsibilities (1 Timothy 5:3-4, 16). • To Christians at times of natural catastrophes (Acts 11:27-30).
