  2. Why do we get disappointed with unanswered prayer? Disappointment is the feeling of sadness or dissatisfaction from the failure (non-fulfilment) of our hopes or expectations. 1. Disappointment can result from our passion for a cause. 2. Disappointment is an opportunity for growth; to correct wrong thinking or beliefs.

  3. What is your Christian understanding, your theology, of trouble, difficulties, suffering & struggles in this world? Do Christians faces troubles in life or are we immuned and protected by God? Did the godly characters of the Bible face troubles and disappointments? 32 But the time is coming - indeed it’s here now - when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. 33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart/be brave, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16 v32, 33)

God’s world – laws and consequences 2. God’s war – spiritual resistance to God’s purposes 3. God’s will – trusting that God knows best

  5. Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane Father (Abba) – Trust God’s love All things are possible for you – Trust God’s power Take this cup from me – Be honest about me Not my will but yours be done – Trust God’s purposes We are called to trust God and keep praying!

  6. Did all the above Bible characters believe that God was powerful to rescue and protect? YES Did God love all these characters of the Bible? YES Did they believe that God answered prayer? YES Did God answer all their prayers the way they expected? NO Did these Bible characters stop loving, serving and trusting God when their prayers were not answered? NO Should we expect our lives to be any different today?
