  4. We have 4 seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.

  5. Our traditional shelter is “ger” where we lived thousands of years. Mongolia’s population is 2.8 million where 1.2 almost half of them live in capital city Ulaanbaatar.

  7. ILC “Universal Progress” • Main goal of ILC is: • to build inclusive environment for people with any disabilities • make social welfare service efficient that meets demands of persons with disabilities.

  8. Brief information There are 108,000 persons with disabilities in Mongolia: • 30% has congenital disability • 15% has severe disability

  9. Direct discrimination • Medical model of disability is dominated in our country • Negative attitude from community • Disability is determined basing on the labor ability loss

  10. Indirect discrimination • Education: Even though, the legal regulation is stated educational right of children with disabilities: • Lack of accessible schools • Lack of teacher’s knowledge • Lack of study resources • Lack of accessible infrastructure

  11. Labor and employment Even though, legal environment permits PWDs employment: • Lack of accessible environment • Lack of employer’s enthusiasm to build accessible work place • Lack of skilled PWDs

  12. Economic discrimination: The monthly government pension for PWDs is USD100 that is not enough for daily life which awakes: • dependency to family members • Maltreatment • Violence (human rights as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of PWDs, sexual)

  13. Discrimination in health service • Do not respect independency of PWDs • Do not care psychological rehabilitation • No child from women with disabilities

  14. Lack of accessible environment to participate in the social life (crossing cut, public transport, buildings, toilet rooms) • Negative social attitude that hesitates to help PWDs • Social discrimination

  15. There is no “personal assistance system” in Mongolia which helps to PWDs to work, to educate and to receive medical service. Therefore, PWDs are dependent, non-educated, has no income and cannot fulfill their rights as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of PWDs
