  1. Plan for the Future!!! “Follow your curiosity and intuition.” -Steve Jobs

Step 1: Think about your strengths • What do I excel at? • What interests me? • What do I see myself doing in the future? • Do I want to be in an office, in the field, or at home? • Do I want to travel for my job or stay put? • Do I like being told what to do?(conformist) • Do I like being in charge?(leader) • Do I WANT to attend college or NOT?

  3. Step 2: If you don’t know the answers • GO BACK TO STEP 1 and spend MORE TIME thinking.

  4. If you have answered step 1… • Research possible job titles that relate to your interests. • For example, Google “job titles for artists” • Job Titles for Artists • Job Titles for Business If you don’t want to go to college, start to plan for a VOCATION (training vs. educating) • VOCATIONAL (TRADE) SCHOOLS

  5. Salary???? • After you have searched possible job titles that you would like to work towards search the salary for those positions. • For example, “Google” • “salary for computer technician” • Salary Computer Technician

  6. After the title and the salary… • Conduct a search of colleges, universities, or vocational schools which specialize in your area of interest. • Google something like… • “Colleges specializing in medicine” or • “Vocational schools specializing in dentistry”

  7. Make a Powerpoint of your Findings • Title page = Name, occupation(s), date • 2nd slide= Two job titles and descriptions of what the jobs entail and how much money you can expect to make as a “starting salary” • 3rd slide= a list of at least three colleges, universities, or vocational schools that specialize in your area of study. • 4th slide = A TIMELINE of the events that will have to take place for you to become whoever you want to be.
