  1. May Madness 2005 • This year’s game adds another dimension to the engineering challenge. This year’s game includes both an autonomous and a LEGO remote control section of the game.   3. 6 2 2 3 3 3 3 @16 The picture at the left shows half of the balls that sit on the foam board. We purchased our foam board at Kmart. It needed to be cut to size. The drawing below shows the locations of the balls. 48” 12

  4. Layout where the balls will sit. • Push the hole in with the round LEGO part • Set the ball in place

  5. At the left you see a larger ball sitting on top of a 2” high piece of round PVC Pictured at the right is a robots view of the game board. The foam board sits on top of 6” long 1” diameter PVC.

  6. Whitestarts here! Red starts here! Soccer goals. Two required - 12 inches high 8 inches wide made of 1 ¼ diameter PVC pipe. Sponge ball 3 each color Ping Pong balls 16 each color Center goal. One required - 12 inches high 8 inches wide made of 1 ¼ diameter PVC pipe

  7. Game parts • 1” PVC to make up the goals • 2. Ping Pong balls • 3. Foam balls or similar balls for the larger balls. We used large Ping Pong balls because Wallmart did not have any foam balls left, you could also substitute with tennis balls.

  21. Goal of the game • Score more points than the other team. • Two parts to the game • Autonomous section – 15 seconds • Remote Control section – 2 minutes Pictured at the left is an example of using a touch sensor to remotely control your LEGO robot.
