Usually, a normal person's spine having a curve at the top of the shoulder and a curve at the lower back. The curve of the spine is "S" or "C" shaped and if you have such shape in your spine then you might have "Scoliosis". So when you see a normal person's back, you will see that the spine runs straight down the lower back but when you see a person suffering from scoliosis you will see that his or her back will have a curve sideways. 2. It is a very common problem and more than 10 million cases come across of scoliosis every year and is a type of problem for which treatment can help to some extent but it cannot be cured fully and always require diagnosis once in a while. There are 2 types of scoliosis including; . Congenital, it is when the deformities a clearly visible by birth . Neurological, it is when nerve abnormalities affects the muscles in spine Causes of Scoliosis : Normally you cannot determine the causes of Scoliosis, but some of the common causes that a doctor identifies include: Genetic: Sometimes Scoliosis can be caused due to the genetic problem also, like if there were any cases related to scoliosis in some ancestor of the family then that can also be inherited into the infant and scoliosis can become a defect by birth. Spina Bifida: Spina bifida is usually a defect in the spine by birth, so when the developing baby's spine fails to develop properly. That's how spina bifida occurs. Like when then bones of a developing baby are in the process of development and the mother holds the child in her arms and the child's spine gets the whole weight of its body on his spinal cord, which causes spina bifida. Spinal injuries: Even though a person is all well but a Spinal injury may also cause scoliosis. That is, the any damage to any part of the spinal cord or a damage to nerves at the end of the spinal canal are usually the main causes of spinal injuries.

  3. Symptoms of Scoliosis: There are many symptoms which help to recognize spinal deformity: 1. Leaning of the body to one side 2. Muscle spasms 3. Physical deformity 4. Uneven waist 5. Abnormal and Painful sensation 6. A Hunched back 7. Uneven hips 8. Always having Back pain Treatment of Scoliosis: As I mentioned earlier that the treatment can help to some extent but it can never be cured. Let's know what is the treatment, 1. Braces: If the patient is suffering from moderate scoliosis and the bones are still growing, then the doctor may recommend the braces. The brace is just a temporary treatment as it will only prevent the curvature from growing further, but will not be able to reverse it.

  4. 2. Surgery: Well Surgery is the last option which is only recommended only to the patients who are having the spinal curvature greater than 45 or 50 degrees. The surgery that is done is known as Spinal Fusion Surgery. It comes with some risks as well such as excessive bleeding, failure to heal, infection, pain, and nerve damage. Due to such risks, the surgery is done very cautiously. Conclusion: As Scoliosis can never be cured, So after getting the surgery, you will have to be very careful with your spine movements and not lifting any kind of weight ( which is really harmful to a scoliosis patient), eat healthy and nutritious food. And always have it in diagnosis to get a full report of what is the current situation of scoliosis.
