  2. Get Your Beautician License • Before you learn how to start a beauty salon, you need to earn a beautician license • Earn a certificate of completion and successfully pass a licensing exam to earn a beautician license.

  3. Develop a Business Plan • operating costs • startup costs • advertising needs • staff requirements • marketing strategy

  4. Figure out needed money • Come up with an operating budget. • Figure out how much you'll charge for services. • Decide if you need a small business loan • Figure out how you'll pay taxes.

  5. Choose the right location • Get into a high-traffic area • Try to have easy access • Stay away from the competition

  6. Know your workers • Hire qualified and trained personnel • Give brief instructions so co workers can easily complete what their suppose to

  7. Create a clean and safe atmosphere • Be sure your towels, foot baths, and other equipment's are washed, clean and odor-free • Keep your tools sharp and current • Make the atmosphere relaxing • Ex: Play soft music, use gentle lighting and keep loud chatter between your employees at a minimum.

  8. Keep your clients satisfied • Word can easily spread about the great look and outstanding personal service that your salon provides • Collect contact information from your clients
