  5. What is scientific notation? • A method used in science to represent really large of really small numbers. • Used to show significant figures with ambiguous numbers (large numbers without decimal points)

  7. Positive Exponents • 101 = 10 • 102 = 10X10= 100 • 103 = 10X10X10 = 1000 • 104 = 10X10X10X10 = 10,000

  8. Negative Exponents • 10-1 = 1/10 = 0.1 • 10-2 = 1/100 = 0.01 • 10-3 = 1/1000 = 0.001 • 10-4 = 1/10000 = 0.0001
