  2. What is reggae • Reggae is a style of popular music with a strongly accented subsidiary beat, originating in Jamaica. Reggae evolved in the late 1960s from ska and other local variations on calypso and rhythm and blues, and became widely known in the 1970s through the work of Bob Marley; its lyrics are much influenced by Rastafarian ideas.

  3. Who are the main players/ artists/ bands involved in your genre and time period? What are the major recordings that they produced? • Bob Marley – Feel alright • Beenie Man – The slam • BujuBanton - Murderer • Dennis Brown – Money in my pocket • Beres Hammond – Duble Trouble

  4. What are the major album releases that defined reggae music? Why were they so important? Reggae artists sing about politics, poverty, and lack of civil rights in jamaca. • Catch and fire, Bob Marley and The Waile. In this album Bob sings about past memories and his fight against politics.

  5. What are the major forms of instrumentation used in reggae music? Some of the main instruments used in reggae are . Drums . Guitars . Keyboard . Horns

  6. What Genre has your genre been influenced by? Ska and Rocksteady where the influence on reggae as they inspired reggae artists as that was the most popular music in Jamaica in the 60s and 70s.

  7. What Genres of music has your genre influenced? • Reggae has influenced the beat on jungle and Dubsteptoday as they where quite hard strong drum beats but with music like Dubstepthey have just made it quicker and harder.
