  1. The Effects of Roofing Type on Indoor Temperature By Lucy Goodwin-Johansson, JozefLisowski, and James Hollingsworth

  2. Procedures/Materials

  3. Data Analysis: Method One Table 1: Ratio of the ambient temperature to the inside temperature. Inside Temp. Black Roof Inside Temp. Black Roof On Top Temp. Black Roof Ambient Temp. Inside Temp. White Roof On Top Temp. White Roof Inside Temp. Green Roof Under Temp. Green Roof Ambient Temp. Figure 1: Graph of time vs. temperature for 05/10/10 3:30-5:30 p.m. Figure 2: Graph for 05/11/10 from 1:00-2:45 p.m. "Under Temp Green Roof" represents the temperature underneath the XeroFlor America roof.

  4. Data Analysis: Method Two • ΔT Calculations. Numerical Analysis

  5. Data Analysis: Method Three Figure 1: White & Black boxes, 5/10, 10:45 a.m.

  6. Conclusion • Green roof is preferred for NCSSM Campus • Green roofs reduce the indoor temperature relative to the ambient temperature during warm weather. • Green roofs do the best job of retaining temperature within a closed roof system. • Green roofs have a smaller temperature range than white and black roof systems.
