  1. What You Need to Know About Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Card Oklahoma medical marijuana laws are constantly evolving. Currently, the state allows for the legal use of medical marijuana with a valid doctor's recommendation. However, a few things patients should know before attempting to obtain their Oklahoma medical marijuana card. Patients must be at least 18 years old to qualify for an Oklahoma medical marijuana card. Minors can be approved for medical marijuana use if they have a parent or guardian who agrees to act as their caregiver. Patients must be residents of Oklahoma. A valid Oklahoma driver's license or ID card is required as proof of residency. Patients must have a qualifying medical condition that is listed on the state's list of approved conditions. Patients must obtain a written recommendation from a licensed physician. The physician must certify that the patient has a qualifying medical condition and that the use of medical marijuana is likely to provide therapeutic or palliative relief for the condition. Patients must register with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA). This can be done online or by mail. Once registered, patients will receive an OMMA ID card. This card must be carried at all times when in possession of medical marijuana. Patients are allowed to possess up to 3 ounces of usable marijuana at any given time. They can also grow up to six mature marijuana plants and six seedlings at their home. You'll need to obtain a doctor's recommendation and then apply to the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority. Once your application is approved, you'll be able to pick up your card at a designated location. The thing to keep in mind is that certain medical conditions qualify for treatment with medical marijuana. These include cancer, HIV/AIDS, Crohn's disease, glaucoma, and multiple sclerosis. If you're unsure whether your condition qualifies, it's best to consult with a medical professional. Patients are not allowed to smoke marijuana in public or while operating a motor vehicle, and patients are not allowed to sell their medical marijuana to others. Patients should be aware that their employers still have the right to drug test and discipline or terminate employees who test positive for marijuana, even if they have an Oklahoma medical marijuana card. If you think you might benefit from the use of medical marijuana, be sure to consult with a qualified physician and check out the OMMA website for more information on how to obtain an Oklahoma Medical Marijuana card.
