  1. Reflecting Christ “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1

  2. Who Are You Reflecting? • Jesus Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:20-23; Philippians 2:4-5

  3. 1 Corinthians 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

  4. 1 Peter 2:20-23 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously.

  5. Philippians 2:4-5 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Jesus came to earth for others, not himself. Our focus should be on the welfare of others as well!

  6. Who Are You Reflecting? • Jesus Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:20-23; Philippians 2:4-5 • The Apostle Paul? 1 Corinthians 4:6; Philippians 3:17

  7. 1 Corinthians 4:6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other.

  8. Philippians 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

  9. Who Are You Reflecting? • Jesus Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:20-23; Philippians 2:4-5 • The Apostle Paul? 1 Corinthians 4:6; Philippians 3:17 Paul and other N.T. Christians serve as wonderful role models for us

  11. Philippians 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

  12. Hebrews 13:7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.

  13. Who Are You Reflecting? • Jesus Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:20-23; Philippians 2:4-5 • The Apostle Paul? 1 Corinthians 4:6; Philippians 3:17 Paul and other N.T. Christians serve as wonderful role models for us • Other Faithful Christians? Philippians 3:17; Hebrews 13:7 Many Christians Today are worthy of emulation

  14. Who Sees Your Reflection? • Is It Not Other Christians? 1 Thessalonians 1:7; 1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:6-8

  15. 1 Thessalonians 1:7 So that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. They became examples to believers because they followed the example of Paul and Christ. “you became followers of us and of the Lord.” (vs. 6)

  16. 1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

  17. Titus 2:6-8 Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

  18. Who Sees Your Reflection? • Is It Not Other Christians? 1 Thessalonians 1:7; 1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:6-8 • Is It Not The Young? cf. Matthew 18:6

  19. Matthew 18:6 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Our Lord takes seriously our obligation to be a good example to the young.

  20. Who Sees Your Reflection? • Is It Not Other Christians? 1 Thessalonians 1:7; 1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:6-8 • Is It Not The Young? cf. Matthew 18:6 • Is It Not Unbelievers? 1 Peter 2:12

  21. 1 Peter 2:12 Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. Unbelievers will often judge the value of walking with Christ by the example of that walk they see in us!

  22. What Do People See When They Look At You? Does your example help or hinder discipleship in others? Does your example help or hinder the progress of the church? Does your example help or hinder the cause of Christ?
