Purpose • Train Evaluation/Technology Coordinators on EA Outcomes • Coordinators will have knowledge/ability to: • Train all EA users at start of school year on: • Brief Overview • EA Changes/Updates in 2011-2012 • Implementing EA as a: • Reviewer (Central Office Staff) • Evaluator (Principal, Asst. Principal, Career Tech. Director, other) • Evaluatee (Teacher, all other Educators) • Provide technical support at local level

EA Terminology • EA Reviewers = All Instructional Leaders that may review the EA process systemwide, but are not evaluating Educators (e.g., Central Office Staff) • EA Evaluators = All Instructional Leaders that are evaluating Educators using the EA process (e.g., principals, assistant principals, career technical directors) • EA Evaluatees = All Educators being evaluated using the EA process (e.g., regular/special ed.teachers, librarians, counselors, other educators) • EA Users = All of the above !!

Participants will become familiar with the strategies and resources that educators use to design these field trips, as well as tips and tricks to ensure their success. By the end of the workshop, participants will have designed an effective and engaging virtual field trip that is aligned to their state's standards.Pre-requisitesThis is an introductory course for teachers, technology specialists, curriculum specialists, professional development specialists, or other school personnel.  Participants are expected to have regular access to computers.  In addition, participants should be proficient with using email, browsing the Internet, and navigating to computer files. ObjectivesThis workshop will enable participants to: 1. Become familiar with the different types of virtual field trips 2. Become familiar with locating and using diverse Internet resources that can be used on a virtual field trip 3. Develop strategies for aligning a virtual field trip with existing curriculum and standards 4. Understand how to use Microsoft Word to create and present virtual field trips to students 5. Educator Self Assessment • Completed at the beginning of each school year • Basis - Alabama Continuum of Teacher Development • Foundation - Entire EDUCATEAlabama process • Evaluatee’s perspective on current level of practice on 39 indicators directly related to the five Alabama Quality Teaching Standards • Formative, rather than summative tool • Provides Evaluatees with opportunity to truly be instrumental in developing and implementing personal plan for professional growth • Completed assessment - establishes opportunity fordialogue between Evaluatee and Evaluator LE

Educator Self Assessment Completion • All Evaluatees (Educators/Librarians/Counselors) select & complete one & only one, Educator Self Assessment • Librarians also serving as classroom teachers will complete the Educator Self Assessment for Librarians • Counselors also serving as classroom teachers will complete the Educator Self Assessment for Counselors • Counselors & Librarians unsure of which Educator Self Assessment to complete will seek direction from their Evaluator LE

Dialogue • The completed Educator Self Assessment provides the basis for a meaningful conversation between the Evaluator and Evaluatee. • From this conversation, the Evaluator and Evaluatee will determine plans for professional growth and implementation. • Meaningful dialogue should result in finalizing indicators, selected from the completed Educator Self Assessment, assigned to the PLP. LE

  35. Assigning Indicators to PLP Based on Level of Practice “Levels of Practice” selected by the Evaluatee will not necessarily determine the indicator(s) assigned to the PLP for professional growth. Indicators assigned to PLP should reflect the most significant professional growth needs for the Evaluatee, regardless of selected “Level of Practice.” LE

Professional Learning Plan • Evaluatees and Evaluators will finalize the PLP at the beginning of the school year, after the Educator Self Assessment is complete and the Dialogue is held. • Evaluatees are responsible for entering the PLP content. • Remember the PD opportunities now available through the link embedded in the PLP Educator Learning textbox! • Evaluatees and Evaluators are responsible for reviewing/editing/completing PLP content. LE

Supporting Evidence LE • Evidence of Evaluatees’ professional growth supporting PLP • After the PLP is complete, the following will be entered during EA process: • Evaluators and/or Reviewers Only • Unnannounced Observations • (Two required for Full Evaluation Cycle) • Reviewers, Evaluators, and Evaluatees • Observation Comments • Instructional Practices • Student Data • Roles-Responsibilities • Additional Indicators NEW ! • General Comments NEW ! • Other • Enter throughout summer, as needed prior to next year

Closing EA Process 2011-2012 • Evidence Summary • Optional report completed by Evaluators at the end of EA process, prior to the next year • Evaluators will close each educator’s EA process for 2011-2012 by July 27, 2012. • EA process should remain open to enter supporting evidence related to the Evaluatee’s professional development experiences during summer 2012. • If EA process is closed prematurely, the Evaluator has capacity to re-open until July 27, 2012. • EA processes not closed by Evaluators will be closed by the SDE on August 1, 2012. LE
