VerificationProcess • AdditionalDocuments • Students may be randomly selected for “Verification” by FAFSA or the California Student Aid Commission (DreamAct) • The Financial Aid & Scholarships office mayrequest: • VerificationWorksheet • Copies of IRS tax transcripts / taxreturns • W-2forms • Processing of an application will be delayed if documents are not submitted orincomplete • Verification may take up to 4-6 weeks toprocess financial.aid@csuci.edu

Claim Your CalGrant • You must claim your Cal Grant by logging into your WebGrants account at mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov andconfirming: • School of attendance (or change selected school);and • High School graduation (if your high school did not certify it foryou) • CSUCI will notbe notified of your Cal Grant eligibility if you do not claim youraward • Your award will be withdrawn at the end of the academic year ifunclaimed • The Cal Grant award is limited to 4 academic years • You must take 15 units each semester or 30 units per year to graduate in 4 years (AB2248) financial.aid@csuci.edu

Additional Options to CoverBalance • Search for Off-CampusScholarships • A word of caution, if it costs you money to search or apply, it is probably not a legitimateopportunity • Apply for a Direct PLUSLoan • If your parents credit is approved, your parentmay request an amount up to your Cost ofAttendance minus all other accepted financialaid • Apply for a Private EducationLoan • This is a credit-based loan. If you have no orlimited credit, you are encouraged to have a co-signer to reduce the variable interestrate financial.aid@csuci.edu

ImportantItems • Enrollment Requirements and FinancialAid • Grants are awarded based on full-timeenrollment (12+units) • If not full-time, grants willbe prorated and/or reduced • Must be enrolled at least half-time (6+ units)to borrow any federalloans • Semester Charges vs. AnnualAid • You will be charged tuition & fees and room & board per semester (if living oncampus) • Your financial aid is awarded for the entire award year (includes fall and springsemesters) • Be sure to planaccordingly! financial.aid@csuci.edu
