  2. WELCOME 1st Call prides itself on the our quality of candidates and wants to ensure that all our people are safe in any environment that we have you working in, so please ensure you understand all our safety measures and ask any questions you have of your consultant.

  3. PLAY YOUR PART EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKPLACE SAFETY!! If you see a hazard or potential hazard, you must report it to your supervisor, should you feel it has not been dealt with properly you should contact your consultant. Your safety is our priority, we are always available to help you with any work place situation. Contact your consultant or local branch of 1st Call Recruitment.

  4. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION IDENTIFICATION PROCESS RATE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE HAZARD DEAL WITH THE HAZARD

  5. WHAT IS A HAZARD Means a situation where either yourself or someone else has the potential to be harmed. This can include: Event Activity Phenomenon Environmental Substance Behaviour Situation

  6. RATE THE HAZARD IDENTIFICATION PROCESS If you see anything that may cause you or anyone else harm, report it to your on site supervisor or 1st Call Consultant. Safety starts at home and if everyone plays their part then we will all be safer. Hazards include slippery surface, sharp objects, broken guards / machinery or no PPE. Everyone is reasonable, doing nothing is not acceptable, Do not let yourself or the people you work with down by doing nothing!

  8. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION IS IT SIGNIFICANT? IS IT PRACTICABLE TO ELIMINATE? IS IT PRACTICABLE TO ISOLATE? WHAT PRACTICABLE STEPS CAN BE TAKEN TO MINIMISE? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DEALING WITH HAZARDS? EVEYONE! (INCLUDING YOU)

  9. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION ELIMINATION BY FAR THE BEST FORM OF PROTECTION, WHICH MEANS REMOVING THE HAZARD FROM THE WORKPLACE. BY IDENTIFING AND REMOVING HAZARDS THE WORKPLACE IS SAFER FOR EVERYONE.

OUR CLIENTS SITES SITE INDUCTIONS • YOU MUST ALWAYS GET A SITE INDUCTION EVERYTIME YOU START A NEW JOB OR MOVE TO A NEW SITE • DO NOT START WORK UNTIL YOU HAVE HAD A SITE INDUCTION • YOUR SITE INDUCTION WILL INCLUDE: • ASSEMBLY POINT FOR EMERGENICES • HAZARD IDENTIFICATION • LUNCHROOM AND TOILET FACILITIES • WEAR ALL PPE REQUIRED • BE PRO ACTIVE IN IDENTIFING ANY POTENTIAL OR ACTIVE HAZARDS • EMERGENCIES DIAL 111

MANUAL HANDLING MANUAL HANDLING INCIDENTS MAKE UP 25% OF ACC CLAIMS IN NZ • AVOID LIFTING RISKY ITEMS • ASSESS LOADS • GET HELP IF REQUIRED • OVER 25KG’s, TEAM LIFT • USE SAFE LIFTING TECNIQUES • LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS • CENTRE THE LOAD • LOOK OUT FOR YOUR CO WORKERS • ASSIST CO WORKERS • USE MECHANICAL AIDS WHERE AVAILABLE • HIGH LIFT PALLET TRUCK • USE ROLLER TABLES • FORKLIFTS

  15. PPE IF PPE IS SUPPLIED TO YOU – USE IT IF YOU THINK YOU NEED IT ASK FOR IT

  16. HEIGHTS IF YOU ARE OVER A METRE FROM THE GROUND THERE MUST BE EITHER RAILING OR A HARNESS SYSTEM IN PLACE.

  17. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL DO NOT HANDLE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TRAINED IN THE SAFE USE OF MAKE SURE YOU WEAR ALL APPROPRIATE PPE

  18. ACCIDENT REPORTING REPORT ALL INCIDENTS FIRSTLY TO ONSITE SUPERVISORS YOU MUST REPORT ACCIDENTS BEFORE LEAVING THE SITE, EXPECT DELAYS IN RECIEVING ACC IF YOU LEAVE WITHOUT INFORMING A SUPERVISOR ON SITE. TELLING A CO-WORKER IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THEN INFORM 1ST CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS

  19. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT DO NOT USE ANY TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN INDUCTED (SHOWN HOW TO USE) OR ARE LICENSED OR CERTIFIED TO USE. FORKLIFTS, VEHICLES AND MACHINERY ALL REQUIRE EITHER QUALIFIED LICENCES OR SPECIALIST TRAINING. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS ANY STAFF MEMBER ALLOWED TO USE THESE ITEMS WITHOUT THE PROPER QUALIFICATIONS OR TRAINING BEING COMPLETED.
