BACKGROUND The development of our society occurs today at a much faster speed than ever before This brings us new daily challenges in the way we live and work, in the way health care services, social services and rehabilitation services are provided This brings us guite a big challenges in the way we produce education • problem of education is that we are working with a paradigm from past, when students should be learning about competences for future

COMPETENCE OF REHABILITATION Student is able to • anticipate and evaluate the needs of rehabilitation at the level of an individual, community and society– recarding the needs of different areas - whole country and also international needs (Competences of Expert of Rehabilitaion) • develop services, practices and the processes of rehabilitation with interprofessional network (Research and Development Methods) • work patient-centered/ client-centered/family-centered multiprofessional teamwork (Dialogical Working Methods of Rehabilitation) and is able to use methods and theories of this kind of work • apply the newest domestic and international researches about the themas (Effectiveness and Quality of Rehabilitation) MASTER´S THESIS EVE

COMPETENCE OF HEALTH PROMOTION Student is able to • work as more in-depth strategic and professional health promotion expertise at the level of an individual, community and society. • develop and evaluate evidence-based health-promotion actions, working methods, effectivness and quality • develop his/her capabilities in interprofessional supervisory or managerial health-promotion work according to the requirements of his/her special fields, linking the topics of his/her Master´s Thesis with the development of the work community • Use, utilise and apply technological innovations to his/her work and to the development of work MASTER´S THESIS ANU

HOW DO WE LEARN? • We began our studies in January 2010 • Basic info • Learning periods of one month • Goal • 2 contact study days in a month • Pre study (~2 weeks), contact study days (2 days), reflection, feedback and self-evaluation (~2 weeks) -> credits • Student orientated, dialogical working methods, group work (Learning cafe, Recalling the future, Reflective team, Anticipation dialogues) • web-based studying • One month’s study period consists of many different part studies

  17. THE GOAL: Student is able to use project as a tool to manage processes that lead to changes in multidisciplinary operational environments He/She is able to plan, manage, evaluate and control a project PROJECT-STUDIES

National DevelopmentProgramme for Social Welfare and Health Care (Kaste) The programme seeks to: • enhance social inclusion and reduce social exclusion • enhance wellbeing and health • narrow inequalities in health and wellbeing • improve the quality, effectiveness and availability of services and reduce regional inequalities

  19. –project as a learning environment • TUKEVA-project is a part of National Development Programme for Social Welfare and Health Care The goal of TUKEVA-project • is to develop a new regional model to create services for families with children

PROJECT-STUDIES • We are using a guantitative research to create knowledge of children’s, adolescent’s and families’ welfare • We collected the data from Oulu and 9 municipalities aroud Oulu area • The whole sampling is about 2 200 children and adolescent Survey-research is going to create knowledge for political program of child and youth for political dicision-making and management

ASKELEET EDISTYMISEEN PROJECT STUDIES Project learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups With this type of active and engaged learning, students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying

Master's Thesis 30 ECTS cr The student • reflects on rehabilitation/health promotion development needs with working life experts in his/her work community or in other context. • on the basis of the development needs he/she creates a research/development plan. • analyses research-based knowledge concerning rehabilitation/health promotion and applies it to his/her Master’s thesis. • through the process of preparing and writing a Master’s Thesis and the presentation of the Thesis report he/she develops his/her skills for an independent work of an expert in rehabilitation/health promotion • Phases of the Master's thesis project including a maturity test, which may take the form of a press release, an internal corporate bulletin, an essay or an article.
