Abhimanyu Easwaran Impressed by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s intensity in nets The Board of Control for Cricket in India has recently announced the squad for the upcoming World Test Championship final and the five- match Test series in England. The selectors named a 20-member squad where they added Abhimanyu Easwaran as one of the standby players as well. However, the youngster was delighted after being named as a standby player and hoped to learn few things from the players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Image Source by twitter While speaking to ANI, he expressed, “Really excited and really delighted about the selection. For me, it will be more important to learn as much as I can and picking cue from other players who are really experienced and have been performing at the highest level for a long time. I guess it is just about becoming a better player when I come back.” When he was asked about his experience of being in the standbys during the series against England at home, Easwaran said: “I think the intensity of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at practice was amazing to watch. Everybody’s preparations were very specific on what they needed to do in the game. That was really important learning and they were very precise on what they wanted from the practice. I think that was good learning for me.” However, Ranji Trophy didn’t take place due to the Covid-19 in India but Easwaran believes it will be difficult to adjust to red-ball cricket. However, he stated that he started working on his red-ball game for the past 10-12 days as well. As he believes in Test cricket, it is all about having the balance and just being disciplined as well.

Despite his tally of 258 runs in the next season, selectors kept faith in him and added him to the squad too. And, the youngster is happy about that.
