  1. Was expecting to lead India at 2007 World T20, reveals Yuvraj Singh Former India captain MS Dhoni’s journey as a future legend started when he led the team to a historic ICC World T20 triumph in 2007. While his achievements as a captain has set the benchmark for future captains, it left a few surprised as well, including Yuvraj Singh as he wanted to lead the team in the inaugural T20 World Cup but selectors put faith on Dhoni ahead of him. And, the veterans like Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar had decided to skip the World T20 which paved way for MS Dhoni to take up the captaincy role. While Yuvraj had played a crucial role as India lifted the trophy by thrashing Pakistan in the final, he had to put his personal ambitions aside of leading India as well. “So, basically, India had lost the 50-over World Cup, right? I mean there was quite a turmoil in Indian cricket and then there was a two-month tour of England and there was also a month tour in between with South Africa and Ireland. And then there was a month of T20 World Cup so there were like four months away from home. So probably the seniors thought that they need a break and obviously, nobody took the T20 World Cup seriously. I was expecting to captain India in the T20 World Cup and then it was announced MS Dhoni will be the captain,” Yuvraj said on the 22 Yarns podcast. However, the captaincy snub didn't affect his relationship with Dhoni as the two have become buddies. Moreover, the duo later stitched many memorable partnerships in the middle order for India as well. And, when Yuvraj Singh had hit Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in an over in the 2007 World T20, it was MS Dhoni who had the best seat to enjoy that as he was at the non-striker's end at that time.
