  8. Three Before Me • I am trying to teach you to be self sufficient learners. That means, that you will need to learn to find the answers on your own. Before you come to me with a question, make sure you have consulted with: • your textbook or accompanying text, including notes • the computer • your friends and classmates

  9. Completion of Homework Assignments • An assignment syllabus will be posted online and assigned at the beginning of each chapter. Due dates are clearly marked. • Due dates will be strictly adhered to. • No late assignments will be accepted! • I will not ask for work if you are absent, it is your responsibility to turn it in.

  10. Absence Policy • If you are absent from class for any reason, it is your responsibility to get any notes or assignments from a classmate. • All assignments are on my website. • All worksheets can be accessed on my website and in the “worksheets” basket. • All work will be due 2 days after you return.

  11. Testing Policy • Tests are scheduled at the beginning of each section. If you are absent from school the day of a test or quiz, you will be required to schedule a make-up NO MORE THAN 2 days after your return to school. • You must use your time to make up any missed assessments. • You will be given a “0” for all tests and quizzes not made up for whatever reason.

  12. APES Test Format • APES tests will cover 2-3 chapters at a time. • Day One: 50 multiple choice questions • Day Two: 2 each 22-minute free response question • Extra time will NOT be given. • If we are interrupted by a fire drill or other unscheduled event, you may stay after class to finish at your own risk.

  13. Test Corrections • After a test, you may come before school to make corrections. Points will be added to your test score. There is a limit on the amount of time you have to make corrections. Once I have gone over the test in class, you may not make corrections

  14. Lab Policy • Labs are scheduled at the beginning of each section. If you are absent from school the day of a laboratory experiment, you will be required to schedule a make-up NO MORE THAN 2 days after your return to school. • If you cannot make up the laboratory experiment, you will still be required to obtain the data and complete the laboratory reporting requirements.

  15. Turning in Paperwork • There is a tremendous amount of paperwork involved with the daily classroom and these are large classes. • In order to get credit for any homework assignment, you must turn it in to the “homework/class work basket” on the front desk.

  16. Returning Graded Homework • Homework will not be returned in class. • I will place all homework, class work, laboratory and notebook assignments in the appropriate folder. • It is the responsibility of the student to reclaim his/her own homework paper.

  17. Cheaters • Cheating will NOT be tolerated. You will be dealt with according to JFHS policy.

  18. In-Coming Tests and Quizzes • After you complete a test or quiz, simply lay it face down on your desk. • You may read or work on something quietly. • DO NOT take out any notes or the textbook. • When everyone is finished, you will pass them down the row and up.

  19. Tardy Slips • If a student has a tardy slip, he/she will place the excuse in the “basket” along with any homework or other paperwork, sit down, and begin the daily class procedures.

  20. Getting My Attention • During lecture, if you have a question, raise your hand. • If we are having a classroom discussion, use parliamentary procedure (allow another student to finish speaking before you speak)

  21. Class Format • Be in the room with materials ready for class and in your seat by the tardy bell; hand in any assignments or homework • Copy the objective and assignments in your notebook • Each lecture day, there will be either vocabulary words or other material for you to investigate using your electronic device, my computers, or a class textbook. This is the time that I will be taking attendance. • Lecture and/or activity • YES YOU MUST TAKE NOTES! • Wrap-Up & Dismissal

  22. APES: Free-Response • Occasionally, you will write a free-response. • This is intended to prepare you to write educated responses to important questions. • You will also grade these responses so that you can learn from your mistakes.

  23. Do I have to take notes? • YES! • If you want to pass this class, then you will need to take notes of some sort; however, It is ultimately your decision. • I will NOT be providing notes online for you.

Leave the classroom neater than you found it. • Return any pens, pencils or other borrowed materials • Leave in an orderly fashion after being dismissed by the teacher
