  2. PROJECT POP UP: DOWNTOWN A program created and administered by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, in partnership with the Office of the Mayor, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Eleven vacant storefronts activated through the use pop up creative entrepreneurship and art installations in order to make the Downtown more attractive, while increasing the vibrancy, safety, and economic health of Downtown Pittsburgh. Each project received six to twelve months in free rent from the property owner, and up to $10,000 grant from the program in order to create pop up art and retail establishments. Soft launched in November 2011 with the opening of seven storefronts; all eleven program participants had a presence at First Night celebration on December 31, 2011.

  16. PROJECT POP UP: NIGHT MARKET Brings together some of Pittsburgh’s most creative and independent vendors, artists, and chefs to an outdoor Downtown parking lot on a Friday night from 7p.m. to 1a.m.
