  1. MCM FAQs MCM Motor and Load Anomaly Detector GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  2. Elevator Speech • Energy savings of 2-4% from efficiency improvements: (on a big motor, that’s a lot of energy) • Power and O&G Industry paradigm is shifting from periodic monitoring to anomaly detection to better manage both mechanical and electrical maintenance. • Users moving from PDC route data collection realize personnel savings and improved resource management. • CM technologies are used to validate anomalies for increased alarm confidence. • Simplicity: “traffic light” user interface: “.. it simply works.” • covers electrical and mechanical faults: for the driver and the load Bottom Line: Gives earliest warning with maximumconfidence and maximum coverage …. …at the lowest cost. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  3. Why monitor motors? Majority are out of sight-out, out of mind … until they break. For the petroleum and chemical industries theaverage downtime costs are $87,000 per hour.1 • Because they’re a major energy consumer! • In the US alone, 1.2 billion+ motors consume 20% of all energy used in the US • These same motors consume 59% of all electricity generated.1 Motor efficiency is best at maximum load. MCM measures and reports on motor efficiency. Owners then havethe info they need to size a motor correctly for the specificapplication. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  8. What are MCM’s target motors? Hazardous locations Difficult and/or dangerous to accessSemi to high criticality motors Cyclic duty Nuclear installations Cryogenic motor- Submerged, pumps remote Fin fans offshore example GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  9. What are MCM’s benefits? Easy installation Significant energy savings Operational expense reductionVery cost effective Patented Algorithm. Differential spectrum (actual - good)used to identify anomalies. Semi-automated mechanical and electrical analysis. Model based diagnostics/anomaly detection: like noise-cancellingheadphones, MCMenables you to see thegood stuff normally buried inthe noise level. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  10. Why enhance existing CM Solutions for Motors? It’s a natural extension of our extensive experience with rotating equipment…. …and MCM’sexperience with motor modeling and anomalydetection. In this case, MCM had been installed on various items of equipment at an automotive battery manufacturer, including this compressor. MCM started giving intermittent alarms on September 2005, and a bearing problem was diagnosed by MCM. Deterioration in the condition of the machine was kept under review until January 2006, during which time maintenance action was safely deferred. When carried out, maintenance and repair actions verified the diagnostic assessment of MCM. On later examination of the MCM trends, it was found that the bearing problem was detected even earlier that 13 September 2005, but the assessed severity was not sufficient to give rise to an alert. This demonstrates the capability of MCM to indicate developing faults at a very early stage. and really leverages your customer’s value from their installed BN base

  11. How are you better than theother guys? MCM gives the earliest warning possiblewith maximum confidenceand maximum coverage atlowest cost y.

  12. What is MCM’sTrack Record? Multiple international awards for MCM technology, including: • UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) - Innovation Award • Control Engineering's Editor's Choice Award - The 40 Best Products of 2000 Installed base > 2,000 (and growing) installed in multiple industries. Proven technology and product.7 GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  13. What is the value proposition? Frees up operators and experts by reducing data gathering chores.Improves energy efficiency with motorenergy monitoring. Correlates motor andload parameters toprocess data. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  15. I already have Multilin; why do I need MCM? MCM is a condition monitoring solution for the motor and its load. Multilin, Eaton, ABB and other protectiverelays provide protection, metering, data and event capture only for themotor. System1(or a similar application) is required tocapture the data from these protectiverelays and convert it to useful conditionmonitoring information. MCM provides condition monitoring information for the motor, and its load, by itself, or with System1. Protection relays are like 3500 without System1. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  16. I already have other technologies; why do I need MCM? MCM MCM frees up your motor experts andincreases their effectiveness and efficiency. MCM provides onetechnology that detectsanomalies and the cause. These technologies are not replaced but are optimally used to validate that a condition exists and to collect further data to correct the anomaly. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.

  17. Ideal Customer Profile • Has a “significant” fleet of REBmotors that are not already permanently instrumented for monitoring (e.g. TrendMaster,3500). • Has an Electrical Maintenance team with skilled services resources that can install current and voltage sensors. GE Internal - For internal distribution only.
