  2. Title of presentation 00/00/2013 Standards Implementation • RIOXX Application Profile and Guidelines http://rioxx.net/ • UK focused metadata initiative for research papers. • Working with UK research funders (RCUK and HEFCE) to align key metadata requirements to support OA policy compliance • Simply requires the collection of a few additional metadata fields (licencing, embargos, funder name, project ID, OA identifier, version) • It is likely you are already collecting most other RIOXX metadata • Benefit: • Enables reporting to funders in the required format • Will support consistency for key metadata fields to facilitate the tracking of research outputs across scholarly systems. • Will facilitate interoperability

  3. Title of presentation 00/00/2013 RIOXX • RIOXX AP supports compliance for RCUK policy • Subset of key metadata that repositories collect and the aim is to provide consistency with these fields across scholarly systems. This consistency supports potential services like Jisc Monitor. • The additional RIOXX metadata fields may also be useful for REF submission in due course. • RIOXX plug-in development for EPrints and Dspace (not all versions). • What it will and won’t do

  4. Title of presentation 00/00/2013 EPrints plugin • Create mappings between default EPrints schema and RIOXX v 2 • Allow users to manually enter RIOXX values where no data is available in the publication record • Allow users to manually override any RIOXX values derived from the publication data • Allow institutions to customise mappings to suit local schema • Surface RIOXX guidelines in UI • Highlight records with mandatory RIOXX data missing • Outline functionality

  5. RIOXX 2.00 timelines • Release of RIOXX 2.00 (Waiting for final recommendations from NISO: free_to_read and lincence-ref). Estimated Sept 2014 • Sept 2014 – start plug-in development (EPrints and DSpace) – taking into account possible changes from NISO. • Oct/Nov 2014 - test the plug-in with a number of early adopters. • Dec 2014 to April 2015 - Repositories to implement the RIOXX application profile and guidelines.

  7. Title of presentation 00/00/2013 Repository Package • Number of patches, scripts, plug-ins that repositories need to participate in shared services and standards. • Developing a layer of support with ePrints, Dspace and RSP to support institutions in uptake. • Have started to map out landscape of repositories and CRISs (Spread Sheet) • Will begin in Nov after early adopters for RIOXX • Support for awareness and technical integration

  8. Title of presentation 00/00/2013 Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information (CASRAI)UK CASRAI national network pilot • http://casrai.org/ • Jisc and CARAI are piloting three National Working Groups in the UK • Data Management Plans • Organisational (Authoritative ) Lists • Research Contribution and Open Access Reporting

  9. CASRAI-UK: Research Contribution and OA Reporting • Development of metadata profile supporting institutional report to UK funders for the new policy on Open Access and research contributions and outputs more generally
