  1. Cryptojacking

  2. What is Cryptojacking • Cryptojacking is a form of cyber attack in which a hacker hijacks a target's processing power in order to mine cryptocurrency on the hacker's behalf.

  3. Two ways in which Crptojacking is happening these days • Hackers hacking websites with good traffic Malicious hackers are hacking websites with heavy traffic to put their mining scripts on those websites. • Online businesses using cryptojacking tools deliberately Large online businesses are also using mining scripts to generate alternative monetization techniques for their businesses.

  4. How to detect cryptojacking • Slow CPU Performance • Systems’ Oveheating • High processor on your device • cryptojacking can affect your organization despite your best efforts to stop it.

  5. Responding To Cryptojacking Once a web-based attack is detected, you should follow these steps: • Kill the browser tab running the crypto mining script The website’s URL can then be noted and blocked through the company’s web filters. • To check browser extensions This is done to remove extensions that are not needed and those that may have been infected with the mining script.

  6. How to prevent Cryptojacking • Install an ad-blocking or anti-cryptomining extension on web browsers. • Use endpoint protection that is capable of detecting known crypto miners. • Keep your web filtering tools up to date. • Maintain browser extensions.  • Use a mobile device management (MDM) solution to better control what’s on users’ devices.
