  1. Multiple mistakes can be made during an immigration interview. Knowing these mistakes beforehand can help you avoid them and give you the best chance of getting your immigration status approved. 1) There is no need to bring anything with you to the interview besides identification documents. Getting anything else may slow down the process by confusing the officer. 2) You will be asked to answer questions by the immigration official that may seem unrelated or too personal. Do not get offended. Answer all questions truthfully and provide documentation if necessary. 3) Make sure you know why your visa was denied, either because of a mistake on an application form or something more serious such as lack of good moral character. If it was due to an error, fix it before applying for another visa. 4) Answer all questions truthfully when asked about previous immigration applications, particularly when you have previously overstayed on a visa or applied for asylum. 5) When explaining why you did not attend an earlier interview or hearing, provide proof if it is available to you, such as medical documentation. Explain thoroughly without accusing the officer of anything and be polite. 6) Do not tell lies at any point throughout the process; your credibility will only get worse every time you lie during an interview or application process.
