  2. Spinal cord • Bundle of nerve tissue extending from the brain down.

  3. Speed • The distance traveled per unit of time Ex. m/s S=d/t

  4. Skin • Excretory organ that covers and protects the body and excretes wastes by perspiring. The chameleon has very specialized skin!

  5. Specimen • The object to be viewed under a microscope

  6. Sperm ducts • Tube through which sperm cells pass upon leaving testes

  7. Sexual Reproduction • Reproduction that involves two parents, producing offspring that are not identical to either parent .

  8. Soil • A mixture of small rocks and organic material.

  9. Solar Energy • Energy from the sun

  10. Species • The group of organisms of the same kind that can produce offspring.

  11. Sound • A form of energy made from a vibrating object

  12. Sound waves • Compressed and relaxed air particles that spread out from a vibrating object. (carry the sound energy)

  13. Solar System • The sun and all objects that revolve around it, including planets and moons.

  14. Smog • A haze formed when sunlight reacts with pollutants.

  15. Soluble • Able to dissolve

  16. Solvent • The substance that does the dissolving. ex. Water is the solvent when making Kool Aid

  17. Solute • The substance that gets dissolved in a solvent. Ex. Kool Aid mix

  18. Solubility • The maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at a certain temperature.

  19. Solution • A mixture in which the solute is dissolved in the solvent…. evenly mixed.
