  2. Mid-autumn Festival (中秋节) Mid-autumn Festival is on Aug. 15th of the Chinese lunar calendar. On the day of Mid-autumn Festival, families gather together, eat moon cakes and observe the moon. (The moon is round on 15th of each month and especially beautiful on Aug. 15th.) Mid-autumn Festival is the second most important traditional festival. There are numerous poems written about it. The most famous one was written by张九龄 (Zhang Jiuling) “海上升明月,天涯共此时。(The moon rises from the sea; even the remotest place shares the same moment)”
