  2. Introduction: • The Sirius star is actually 2 stars with one giant star and one dwarf star. • It was first discovered by German astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm. • In old Greek the name Sirius is “sparkling” because it is the brightest star from Earth. • It is also the closest star to the Earth.

  3. Astronomical data • The Sirius has a radius of 1.7 times of the Sun. • It is about 20 times the Earth’s distance from the Sun. • The Sirius star is 8.7 light years away from the Sun. • It is a blue-white star which is 24.7 times luminous of the Sun.

  4. Surface Data • It has a gravity of 350,000 stronger than the Earth. • It has a temperature of 9,800 kelvins. • The most near by thing it has is the Earth.

  5. Scientific Explorations • I could not find any research about it but there are lots of myths like in a tribe in Mali West Africa, they believe that there is many mythical creatures that like on Sirius B.

  7. Fun facts • It is also call the “Dog Star” in Greek • The ancient Egyptians knew it as the Sothis and they believed that it caused the floods of the Nile river.
