BACKGROUND • March 5, 2013 Consolidated Primary Election: • City of Pasadena: • City Council Districts 3, 5, and 7 • Pasadena Unified School District: • Board of Education Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 (newly formed) • April 16, 2013 General Municipal Election: • Will be held for those races in the Primary Nominating Election with less than a 50% plus one majority winner

ONE CANDIDATE NOMINATED FOR OFFICE • If only one candidate qualifies for a specific district race: • City Clerk notifies the City Council and Board of Education • Publishes a notice of facts • Submits a resolution to the City Council and Board of Education (after fifth day following publication) allowing for the appointment of the qualified candidate as an elected officer • Possibility still exists, however, more unlikely at this point • If necessary, City Clerk with will work with the City Attorney and the City’s Election Consultant on process and next steps
