God's adulterous wife Israel (chapter 2). C. Hosea's "tough love" restores his wife, as God's love would restore Israel (chapter 3). II. Prophetic discourses on adulterous Israel and her faithful God (4-13) A. Israel's sins detailed (chapters 4-8). B. Israel's punishment determined (chapters 9-11). C. Judgment is coming (9:1-14) • They would have no real benefit from their association with Idol worship. • Their food would fail. • They will return to slavery in Assyria. • They won’t be able to worship. • Israel’s false prophets were a snare to them. • Their wickedness goes back many years. • They will have no posterity. • The will be cast away and they will be wanderers.

  7. God’s Judgment on Israel Destruction of Israel is coming (10:1-15) • Their selfish material successes just caused more idolatry • Their altars, pillars, and idols will be destroyed • Their main idol will be taken to Assyria. • Israel’s king will be cut off. • Their easy life is going to made very difficult. • They trusted in their own way.
