Opportunities 2.RoadSafety Procedures: MAP&CAE • ZERO tolerance of unsafe actions and regulation breaches • Our commitment to “ZERO ACCIDENTS” • Communicating this commitment to all stakeholders CAE Risk prevention in the workplace is a strategic goal at Which tools do we use? Planning Road Safety Observation MAP

  6. 2.RoadSafety Procedures: MAP&CAE One of the first cross-concessional projects by • MAP complements spanish Regulation (8.3-IC for Signs for Works). • MAP responds to the questions: Which vehicle and equipment should I use?; Can I work in safe conditions?; Is the weather favourable?; Which signs do I use and which plan do I follow? • Instructions are given on how to use MAP and how it is structured, indicating what type of information can be found on each type of file. Compliance with MAP is not voluntary, IT IS OBLIGATORY

  7. 2.RoadSafety Procedures: MAP&CAE Unsafe Practices ICEBERG CONCEPT Deaths Injuries with restricted activity Injuries with sick days Injuries requiring first aid Injuries requiring medical treatment Incidents with possible serious injuries Many semi-incidents with possible light injuries • UNSAFE PRACTICES • Non-compliance with occupational health and safety regulations • Non-compliances with established regulations • Exposure to unnecessary risks • Non-compliance with all steps in the process • Rushing • Poor judgment • Not maintaining high level of cleaning

  8. 3. Observation Techniques for Unsafe Practice The purpose of observing unsafe practices is: • To increase the maturity and perception of Labor Risk Prevention as well as being conscious of the environment • To modify behaviour • To provide motivation for safe behaviour • To show interest • To provide channels of communication • To increase relationships among employees • To know what is happening • To demonstrate the benefits of the observations • To clarify regulations and procedures

  9. Road Safety Observations Report: First results Secondsemester 2014, 8 concessions Number of observations: 143 (29 of themindividually) Nº Unsafe Acts 2014

  10. 4. Road Safety Observations Report • Suggestions for an Action Plan: • Education and training for workers according to the identification of needs and the effectiveness of previous actions. • Necessity, appropriateness or lack of work procedures. • Immediate correction “in situ” of unsafe situations due to certainty. • Acknowledge and reinforce efficient and safe habits and behaviours. • Improve quality of work, directly involving the controls.

  11. Another Exemples of Road safety actions in • •Evaluation of therestrictiononcirculationfortrunksonthe N-II and theimpactover AP-7 French border- Girona (80 kms) • 22,4% increase of heavy trucks in theitinerary • 38% increase of theespecificrisk in relationwiththis heavy type of vehicles • Positive Impactonsociety and theterritory: 10 M€ duringthefirst 12 months. • •In compliancewiththeAdministration, performing Road Safety Audits in differentsectionsalong AP-7 • •Program to achivethecertification in ISO 39.001 in Road Traffic Safety Management ISO 39001 sets out the minimum requirements for a Road Traffic Safety Management System.
