  2. Important people • Jesus (“grew up to change the world”). • Mary and Joseph (Jesus’s parents). • Angel Gabriel; He told Mary that she would give birth to God’s child.

  3. Important places • Bethlehem- This was where Jesus was born. • Jerusalem - The holy city in Israel. • Judea- Under the rule of Israel.

  4. Beliefs • God created all. • Although he died Jesus rose again going to heaven. • People who repent of their sins will be forgiven. • They believe in the 10 Commandments.

  5. Important facts • Began first century A.D. • Most widely spread religions in the world. • Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. • Jesus was crucified and a wooden cross.

  6. Holidays and celebrations • Christmas- This is when Jesus was born. • Easter- When Jesus rose from the dead. • Good Friday- Christians believe this is a day for fasting.

  7. Deities • Christians believe in only one god. • This is called monotheism. • They believe God is the father of Jesus Christ.

  8. The New and Old Testaments • The New Testament has 27 chapters. • Each chapter represents a person in the New Testament. • The Old Testaments is followed by Christians and Jews.

  9. Types of Christians • These are the two types of Christians. • Orthodox- Strictly follow the religion. • Roman Catholic-Has unique beliefs, practices and traditions.

  10. The Last supper • God gave the people two different types of food. • Bread- The bread symbolized his body. • Wine- The wine symbolized his holy blood.
