  2. Introduction Why is math relevant to you? Where is it used in your own life? Since you have math classes throughout school it must be used somewhere in the real world! Truth is, math is used all around you every day. Through this webquest you will discover careers that use math every day. You might even discover your future!

  3. Task As you research… organize your notes answer the following… • As you research careers consider which may measure the very small and the very large. This could be from bytes on a computer, bacteria on a doorknob to the distance it will take your rocket to arrive at AlphCentari. • As you research the links on the next page, take notes on the following key points:

  4. Process • Process • You will research a career that you are interested in to see how math may be used later on in life. As you research, be sure to find out how math can be used in that profession, particularly the use of scientific notation to represent measures. • Some website suggestions include: • Elementary Careers • Career List for Kids • Careers in the Medical Field • Mathematical Association of America - Career Profiles • Bureau of Labor Statistics • FactMonster.com • KidsClick • WeUseMath.org • Once you have chosen a career, you must get approval to proceed. Feel free to come to me if you have any questions or would like for me to check to see if you are on the right track.

  5. Evaluation Evaluation This is how your work will be evaluated.

  8. Conclusion After doing your own research, as well as watching your peers present, hopefully you have a better idea of why you are learning math every year. Perhaps you'll even start noticing each little math problem you do!
