Consumer Product Safety Act. Enacted in 1972 National Law (Used also for international items) Amended in 2008. By: Julia Pikula. Functions: The function of the CPSA is to develop safety standards and to issue recalls if products are considered bad for ones health.

  1. Consumer Product Safety Act Enacted in 1972 National Law (Used also for international items) Amended in 2008 By: Julia Pikula

  2. Functions: The function of the CPSA is to develop safety standards and to issue recalls if products are considered bad for ones health. This act is to enforce new safety standards in the US for the International goods that we receive. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement act made many improvements to this act about standards among other small amendments. Environmental Issues Affected: The environmental issue was that there were not any other safety standards in play before this act. This act currently controls 15,000 products that were not controlled before. Function/ Environmental Affects

  3. Regulating Agencies • The current regulating agency is the Consumer Product Safety Commission or the CPSC • This group can ban certain substances if they are deemed unsafe. • This group changes their safety regulations as they need to for the protection of the public.
