Expectations and Rules Write the following in your LRB • Yes, it is possible to test a 9V battery with your tongue or metal braces but not in this class • Do not write in the EKI Discover Electronicsbooks; • Do not touch other team’s components, parts, kits, etc. If you do; “Kick him out!” • Do not damage materials • If you do accidently burn out a component, let me know and Iwill replace it • If you do not report damaged materials it will be suspected it was done intentionally; “Kick him out!” Engineering01/EE/EE_presentation.pptx

Teams • You will be working in teams of two • For all labs you must alternate building the circuit • You may guide another person when it’s their turn but you must not do it for them. • You may help the team member constructing the circuit but you may not do it for them • Each team member is responsible for their own LRB • Teams will consist of two students selected by your instructor randomly • Team selection using gradebook • Form teams and sit together Engineering01/EE/EE_presentation.pptx

Assignments • We will do the first 3 lessons and 9 experiments together • You should be able to complete 2 experiments per day • Remember to alternate who actually does the lab (Teamwork) • Be prepared for short entry task quiz each day • No talking • Dividers • Eyes on your own paper • You can use your LRB for the quiz. EKI Kits • Use inventory sheet provided to inventory the components of your kit • Lay the components on the picture depicting it • Have your instructor initial your sheet when finished • Report any discrepancies to your instructor and record on your inventory sheet • Also include your names, date, period, and kit number • When finished: • While waiting for other teams to inventory their kits, look through the Discover Electronics book to see what we will be covering and how it’s organized. • Read the Introduction on page 3 Engineering01/EE/EE_presentation.pptx

Lesson 1: : Basic Electronics Theory • Comparing water systems to electronic theory is a good analogy to help understand Voltage (water pressure), Amperage (water flow), and resistance (valve/faucet) • Insure students understand it is only an analogy, it does not reflect what is actually happening • For all “Pencil Exercises”, write the questions ANDanswers in your LRB • Read Lesson 1 and do Pencil Exercises 1 & 2 Engineering01/EE/EE_presentation.pptx
