  3. Abiotic and Biotic Factors • Biotic Factors: • Barracuda (5-6 ft) • Brown Pelican • Mangrove snapper • Clams • Black Mangrove • White Mangrove • Red Mangrove • Brown Shrimp • Laughing Gull • Heron • Egret • Pinfish • Minnows • Sponges • Sea Grass • Abiotic Factors: • Wind • Water • Sun • Moon • Sand • Shells • Rocks • Air

  4. Plants broken into 4 groups • Sea Grass - Water • Red Mangroves – Water • Black Mangroves – Water • White Mangroves – Water

  5. Vertebrate's Invertabrate's • Barracuda • Pinfish • Mangrove Snapper • Crabs • Laughing Gull • Heron • Egret • Minnows • Brown Pelican • Clams • Brown Shrimp • Sponges • Sea grass

  6. Food Web Barracuda Heron Brown Pelican Laughing Gull Egret Mangrove Snapper Pinfish Sponges Clams Crabs Minnows Brown Shrimp Black Mangrove White Mangrove Red Mangrove

  7. Symbiotic Relationships • Mutualism is when it benefits both species. • Examples: • The Minnow and the Mangroves because the Minnow eats the Alga off the Mangroves and the Mangroves don’t “choke”. • Communaslism is when it helps one partner but dose nothing to the other. • Examples: • The Barracuda and the Snapper, the Barracuda eats the Snapper and the Snapper dies. • Parasitism is when the relationship benefit’s the parasites and dose definite damage to the host. • Example: • The Crab and the Clam because the Crab makes a hole in the Calms shell and sucks out the clam.

  10. Graphs of Yearly Temperature and Rain Fall Average Rainfall Average Temperature

  11. Average Rainfall Average Temperature

  12. PH of Water 7 Neutral

  13. Factors that make this Site Unique • Water Signs • In the Ocean • You need a boat to get there • Lots of Mangroves ( at least 1-5 acres of them) • It’s a Beach in the Ocean

  14. Limiting Factor (s) • Depending on how much open space there is depends on how many fish get protected for bigger fish/predators. • Space between Mangrove roots. If the space is really big then the bigger fish can get in and get food. But if the space is small they won’t be open to as much food. • Depth of water. If the water is low then there won’t be a lot of Mangroves or little fish to hide in making a lot of the fish have to hide in the roots at the bottom where big fish can get in. • Oxygen in water • Temp. • Weather • PH of water • . Salinity (salt)

  15. Sensitive or Endangered Organisms The Brown Pelican is a Sensitive Organism.

  16. Human Impact Negative Positive • People • Pollution • Litter (trash) • People take shells with animals still in them • None Destructive People • People that CARE about the Environment • No liter in the water

  17. Bibliography I used the Science Text Book, then I used these internet sites: www.yahoo.com , www.worldclimate.com , www.goggle.com , and Aol Keyword I also used Report Writing and Research Compton’s Interactive Encyclopedia ’99 for my project. This is what I used to find all of these things in my project.
