  5. ISC Schedule Highlights

  6. ISC Major Milestones

  7. SubsystemInterfaces • Optical • Pre-stabilized Laser (PSL) • Input Optics (IO) • Mechanical • Optical tables • Vacuum penetrations • Electronic • PSL • Drive control of optical suspensions • Timing system for clocking for converters • RF Distribution System • Mode-cleaner (MC) Length • Data Acquisition (DAQ)

  8. ISC Cost by WBS ISC Cost Estimate in Base Year 2006 Dollars(Including Contingency)

  9. Subsystem Cost Estimating Basis • Cost estimating reliant on extrapolation from initial LIGO experiences due to custom nature of electronics • Wherever possible, representative quotes taken from industry • PCB manufacturing facilities (PCB Express) • Circuit board stuffing (Screaming Circuits) • Huntington Vacuum etc. for standard vacuum parts • Accuglass Vacuum connections • Estimates for LIGO designed electronics based on repackaging of existing designs wherever applicable • Travel • Estimated based on LIGO 1 experience and extrapolated complexity to Advanced LIGO

  10. ISC Staffing Profile

  11. ISC Risks and Concerns • In-vacuum Electronics • Thermal Management • Reliability • Ease of repair • Optical damage of photo-detector elements

  12. Safety Practices • Laser Safety • Laser safety practices will be in accordance with standing approved LIGO laser safety practices • Electrical Safety • Systems with hazardous electrical voltages such as photo-diode bias supplies will be designed and used in accordance with approved LIGO electrical standards and procedures
