  2. The Problem? • Plastic waste is produced on farms • Disposal is costly to bottom line & environment • Small quantities produced in widespread areas • No consolidation centers to accept scrap • Lack of information (specifications/guidelines) • Little recycling effort state-wide

  3. The Solution!!! • Develop a state-wide recycling program • Set up consolidation centers at • Existing recyclers • Large Farms • Publish guides/specification for recycling • Provide guidance and necessary equipment • Make customer service available • Arrange for pick-ups of large quantities • Offer buy-back pricing where possible

HDPE & PP Flower Pots Handling Guidelines: • Nest only when dry • Shake out prior to nesting • Stage nested post securelyon pallets or wooden racks *8 Ft Tall with stretch wrap around nested pots Contamination: 5% surface dirt & moisture will be tolerated Less Than Truckloads: Deliver to consolidation center Truckload Quantities:20,000 - 25,000 lbs /53’ Trailer Rebate:Available on truckload quantities prepared this way. *Call for quote on full truckload quantities

LDPE Nursery Film - Clear/White Handling Guidelines: • Take down during a period of dry weather • Keep from contacting the ground/dirt • Bale & store on pallets, preferably under a tarp • Bales of film should be dropped off at consolidation centers *Large quantity suppliers may get free pick-ups, call for details If no baler available • Film should be rolled up and tied off into easy to handle bundles/hay bales • Bundles of film should be dropped off at consolidation centers • Use wooden racks if small quantities are loose or to store bundles Contamination: 5% surface dirt & moisture will be tolerated Less Than Truckloads: Deliver to consolidation center Truckload Quantities:40,000 - 44,000 lbs/40’ High Cube *Call for quote on full truckload quantities
