  1. Study the object you are about to sketch. Identify the top, front, and side views.

  2. Begin by proportionally laying out the outside dimensions of the top front and side views of the object. Project across and up, make sure that your views align.

  3. Begin to layout the location of major parts of the part that you are drawing.

  4. Continue to layout major parts of the object. Keep parts proportionally correct. Use major parts of the object to locate the positions of minor parts.

  5. Darken your object lines. The developmental lines will fall into the background
