  1. Welcome to Mrs. Franson’sSecond Grade

  2. Here are a few things you will want to know to have a grrrrrreat year.

  3. Friday Folder Friday Folders • Come home each Friday • Contain: • All work done that week (except for best piece saved for portfolio) • Reading calendar for coming week • Weekly report • Please return on Monday with: • Signed weekly report • Reading Calendar from the previous week

  4. Reading • Read at least 20 minutes every night. • Bring signed reading calendar back on Monday for the previous week. • At home reading books (“white books”) • Come home every night • Must be brought back every day to get a new one

  5. Spelling • Pretest will come home on Monday. • Final test will be on Friday.

  6. Math • Homework • Will come home on Monday (along with spelling pretest) • Must be retuned by Thursday (but can come back any day before that)

  7. Weekly Report Cards • Come home in the Friday Folders • Need to be retuned on Monday (with a parent signature)

  8. Birthdays Optional • On his/her birthday your child is invited to: • bring a poster about him/herself. • Share a treat with the class • Must be wrapped candy, goods from a commercial bakery etc.

  9. Classroom Rules • Respect for self • Respect for others • Respect for property Respect !

  10. What Happens If You Break the Rule? • Warning • Miss a recess • Miss a second recess and call parent • Visit with Mr. Maughan

  11. SEP Conferences • Will be held in September, January, and March • Before the conferences in January and March, students will bring home a “show portfolio”. • Please go through these with your student before the conference.
