  3. Clothing Coats - waterproof and warm Shoes - black and sensible (children will not be able to change shoes at break 
time or lunchtime) Earrings for boys or girls need to be small simple studs. Boys White shirt or polo shirt Black trousers/shorts during warmer weather Black school shoes Boys from the Sikh community who choose to wear a head covering garment 
may wear a black, white or red pakta or turban. Girls White blouse or polo shirt Black skirt or trousers or pinafore dress Red and white checked uniform summer dress during warmer weather Black plain tights may be worn under skirts or dresses NO Leggings Girls from the Muslim community who choose to wear a head covering

  4. Swimming 1 class per term Its compulsory as part of the Year 4 curriculum What your children will need: Clean, dry towel swim trunks/costume swimming cap waterproof coat - essential sensible shoes No Shorts/No bikinis No earrings or bangles No money or food no googles Times 4RK - Wednesday

  5. Healthy Lunches Lady Margaret is a healthy school. This means that your 
children are encouraged to bring a healthy packed lunch. This could include: a sandwich; a yoghurt; a piece of fruit; 
vegetable sticks etc. Please make sure to discuss with your child the importance of 
eating a lunch! Football can wait!

  7. Diaries Children have been given diaries. It istheir responsibility to look after them and bring them into 
school everyday. Reading record logs are sent out separately. We expect each child to read with someone at 
home for 15-20 minutes. You may wish to comment upon their reading. It is important that you ask them questions to assess their understanding as you are reading This must be signed and checked by parents or carers daily. This is your first point of contact with the teacher. Any additional home learning will be written in the diaries as and when it is required and is at the discretion of the set teacher.

  8. Communication Teachers will be keeping a record of the reading and 
homework completed by each child. Phonecalls will be made by class teachers if homework is not handed in on time. Homework Club will be on Monday lunchtimes - for those 
children without resources at home (e.g. the internet). Homework needs to be handed in every Monday and will be 
given out on a Tuesday. 4RK will have Homework Club on Tuesdays.

  9. Work of the Week Achievement assemblies will be on a Thursday at 9am, fortnightly. This means year 4 will share work every three weeks. Parents are encouraged to attend when they can. The next achievement assembly for year 4 will take place on the 3rd December. The work deemed to be of outstanding quality, from those 
selected, will be displayed upon 'The Work of the Week' board 
near the Lower Hall.

  10. Reading For Pleasure We will be expecting your child to read a minimum 
of three times a week at home - but preferably every night. Please make sure that your child is a member of 
the local library. Encourage your child to choose books of an appropriate level.

  11. What you can do to help your child - Read with your child and ask questions about what they 
have read. - Use a dictionary for any unknown words. - Support with spellings. - To learn and practice multiplication tables up to 12. - Handwriting practice (see diary)

  12. Behaviour for Learning

  13. Spellings Children will be handed spellings every week and will 
be tested on them every Monday morning. Children are expected to achieve 7/10 as minimum.

  14. Trips/ workshops There are a series of trips/workshops booked for which we will 
provide you with more details closer to the date. Year 4 have organised a trip or workshop each term. Year 4 will take part in a Shakespeare project in the Spring 2/summer 
1 term and will have the exciting opportunity to perform at a school in 
Acton, where parents will be invited.

  15. Soft starts Children are expected to be in class, seated and ready to 
learn at 8:40. Soft start activities provide children with a chance to 
recap/consolidate prior learning from the previous day.

  16. E-Safety It is very important to keep our children safe online as a 
result there should be careful monitoring at home when 
they are using the Internet. No child should have a face book account, instagram, 
whatsapp or snap chat. There are age restrictions on all 
of these sites. Due to the anonymity of these sites 
children often are bullied and bully others which then 
causes problems at home and school taking away from 
learning time. Grand theft auto is an 18+ game and should not be played by any pupils. Pokemon Go is an exciting game however can lead to extra phone costs as it 
uses a lot of data. It can be addictive and play should be limited to a certain 
time. Children should be playing games appropriate to their age. Children should be logged off computers, gaming, Ipads, tablets and mobile 
phones by 8 pm. This then allows children to wind down and calm their minds 
before bed. Further to this, it ensures children are ready to learn the next day.
