  1. Precalculus:Ms. LevineLesson 1: Connecting the Dots: Piggies and PoolsA develop understanding Task 09/12/2013 Aim: Students will compare exponential and linear functions Do Now: In a word document, define the vocabulary words. E-mail them to Ms. Levine using the “Submit Assignment” form at the bottom of the web page.

  2. Piggies and Pools: Vocabulary • Domain • Discrete Function • Continuous Function

  3. Piggies and Pools • Complete problems 1 – 7. Use complete sentences in problems 5 – 7.

  4. Piggies and Pools • If you have not already done so, construct a table, graph, and equation for problem 1.Get a piece of scrap paper from the front of the room and label it with your name and give it the title 4.1. Be sure the graph is UNCONNECTED POINTS. • Next, write what type of sequence is represented in problem 1. (If you’re not sure, look up “arithmetic sequence” and “geometric sequence” on google or on khan academy.) • Next, construct a table, graph, and equation for problem 2. Be sure the graph is A SOLID LINE. • Next, create a chart of similarities and differences between your two functions. • Next, answer: Why is the graph for problem 1 unconnected points, and the graph for problem 2 is a solid line? Please use complete sentences
