  2. Objectives for the Meeting….. To provide some space and time to think about our work for CAFOD, meet other supporters, share experiences and generate new ideas. To find out more about the Lent Fast Day theme of water and sanitation. To offer workshops on Lenten fundraising, Connect2 and campaigns/spirituality. To help us think about different ways in which we continue to support CAFOD and inspire our local communities to do the same.

Lots of extra resources available here for you to take away.... Write on your evaluation form/post it note if you need any resources.   6. Loving heavenly Father, We come to you this morning asking for your blessing and help as we are gathered together. We pray for your guidance throughout our meeting and ask that you would clearly show us how to do Your will with a spirit of joy and enthusiasm.

  7. Give us the desire to find ways to excel in what we do. Help us to work together and encourage each other as we strive to build a better world. We ask that we would challenge each other to reach higher and further, in service to our brothers and sisters across the world. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

  8. Latest News from the Portsmouth Diocese!

  9. Harvest Fast Day – THANK YOU! • £54,910 raised overall in our diocese • Please pass on our thanks to everyone in your community • Parishes raised £47,685 of this total • Lower than last year & steady decline in last three years • Lent fares better and we raise around £76K – but we have raised around 99K in 2009 • Overall in CAFOD – our funding is holding through the recession but.... Major donors & legacies

Progress in Schools • Visits have increased from 24 in 2009/10 to 68 in 2010/2011 • School Volunteer Coordinator • Targeted recruitment campaign • Reaching out to thousands of families Education Team has expanded from 8 to 12 in 2011. 7 more going through training in Feb and May 17 University students trained last weekend from Southampton Catholic Society Team will now be 36. 81% primaries & 54% secondaries now covered.

  11. Campaigns Latest! Don’t drop the ball: Over 10,000 actions handed-in at No 11 Durban talks: new Green Climate Fund agreed but no clarity on where the finance will be coming from November 2011 MP Correspondents reception A fantastic, inspiring evening at Speaker’s House 6 MPCs from our diocese and many more from across the country

  12. 50th Anniversary Events - 2012 29 May: CAFOD Golf Day 8 June: 50th Anniversary Evening (Jersey) 23 June: 50th Anniversary Walk (Maidenhead) Concert at Douai Abbey - cancelled 11 – 15 March: Southwark to Canterbury Pilgrimage 11 – 25 May: The Great Outdoors Challenge 27 & 28 October: Mini, Junior and Great South Run

  15. With a focus on water & sanitation, we’re inviting parishes and schools to with us during the season of Lent give act pray Zimi, 10 years old

  16. Lent 2012 is a unique opportunity… Every £1 donated to CAFOD by supporters towards our Lent appeal, will be matched by the Government. We are hoping to raise £2m. That’s £4m with matched funding! Imagine what could be done with that.......

  17. Fast Day Envelope • No date on envelope • Use throughout Lent • Collections are taken on different weekends (Reverse of envelope) People can send back their donations in the post if they miss the collection

  18. Gift Aid Amount of Gift Aid we’ve collected has reduced over the last few years. Fewer people are completing the Gift Aid form. If we could claim Gift Aid on the £2M we hope to raise – that would raise another £500K!
