  1. Communications Alert IITC, IBM Malaysia in Collaborative e-Education To Target High-Growth Education Sector IITC Sdn Bhd, the IT arm of INTI Universal Holdings Berhad (IUHB) announced its strategic alliance with IBM Malaysia at a signing ceremony held on 8 October 2003. The partnership aims to deliver a broad range of comprehensive e-education solutions to empower local education institutions to be more operationally resilient. Marketed under the brand name “Total Campus Management Solution” (TCMS), the system would enable colleges to address the bureaucratic complexities of academic functions and significantly reduce the bulk of routine administrative tasks from admission, finance, examination, student services and academic analysis to alumni relations and beyond, said Mr Chuah Seng Heng, Executive Director of IITC. The TCMS package offered encompasses solutions such as student lifecycle system, management information system, library information system and hostel management system which would all reside on IBM’s DB2 Information Management software. IBM Malaysia’s software group country manager Mr Hong Kok Cheong, said that the DB2 delivers “information on demand” and ensures that information is integrated, comprehensive, uniform and accessible in “real time across all platforms as if they were one.” According to Mr. Tan Yew Sing, Executive Director for IUHB, the TCMS is instrumental in enabling INTI’s colleges to increase their administrative efficiency and provide better student services through the optimization of its resources. “For instance, the manual preparation of study schedules is very complicated especially if student enrolments are more than a few thousands. The usage of TCMS will cut down on preparation time and reduce human errors,” he added.
