  2. What is Kodomo-no-hi? • It is on May 5th to wish children’s health growth and happiness. Kodomo- no-hi means children’s day but it is more for boys because there is Hinamatsuri for girls on March 3rd. • You put up Koinobori(Fish shaped cloth) to wish success and display Kabuto(warrior’s helmet) to wish health.

  3. Food Kashiwa-mochiandchimakiis popular food for Kodomo-no-hi. • Kashiwa-mochiIt is a rice cake containing bean jam wrapped in an oak leaf. An oak leaf doesn’t fall before there is a new leaf bud.→It represents the idea that parents won’t die before their children have a baby(The family line will not break.) • Chimaki-It is a rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves. It is said that chimaki avoids difficultyies.
