What That T-Shirt Really Means… Your Teacher Has… • Assessed your Phonics Skills, Phonemic Awareness, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension while Monitoring your Progress toward Benchmark • Dissected and evaluated your Mock OAT data to differentiate your instruction • Secured the resources to meet your needs as a learner • Created interventions to keep you from falling through the cracks

Created a Collaborative Culture…..We Changed our Attitude and our Behaviors • High Expectations for ALLstudents. • Higher level thinking. • Shared Responsibility between student, teacher and parents about learning. • Analyzing our instruction and the lessons that we teach to improve our instruction. • Facilitating Cooperative Learning / Independent Learning • Creating a framework for student learning. (objectives are visible and spoken, modeling is present, application and questioning occurs, assessment of student performance, data collection, interventions as needed and follow up occurs) • Our Passion is Present as we model life-long learning. (staff meetings, study groups, CIP, OISM, team meetings) “Most children learn early in school that mistakes are signs of weakness instead of data to use.” Saphire & Gower

How we Created a Collaborative Culture…..We Changed our Attitude and our Behaviors • Changed our School Wide schedule to Create Daily Common Planning Time • Cancelled all Staff Meetings- Established Grade Level Meetings (Team Meeting Tuesday) • I set the agenda- Focus = Student Concerns, Evaluating Student Data, Discuss Decision Rules to see if we need to move to Tier 1, 2 or 3. • Create Inclusive Practices / Co-teaching / Teacher Student Responsibility • Tier 2 Interventions- Meet as a Grade Level- What are we missing? How Many kids need the intervention? When can we start it? How will we pay for it? (REWARDS, 6 Minute Solution) • Tier 3- Parent Meetings, Data Collection, Monitoring Intervention, Change Instruction • Establish a Level of Accountability by ALL Parties Every Year • YOU CAN’T LET UP!

Intervention Tune Up- Rebuilding the System • Resources- People and Money • Setting Clear Expectations with your staff- Having difficult conversations • Finding the Right People and putting them in the right positions • Professional Development (Inside)- My Goal was to Empower Teachers to Take a Lead Role i.e.. Study Group, Mock Testing Analysis (Outside) TESA, Lab Classrooms, Read Well, SOCI , DIBELS Summit • Advocate for materials- Grants, Central Office- Will you pay half?, PTO-Raz-kids, Study Island, ELO, Fast Math, Study Group, Books and Breakfast, Professional Development for Teachers (Costa Rica), Russia, PBS-Colorado • All Monies are spent on Continuous Improvement!
